Tina Royal was born in Lexington, North Carolina. Royal earned a bachelor's degree from Saint Augustine's University in 1994. Her career experience includes working as a nonprofit executive director and probation/parole officer with the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections. Royal has been affiliated with the Davidson-Davie Community College Board of Trustees and has served as an advisory board member for Davidson County Salvation Army and a board member of J. Smith Young YMCA.
