Tina Kotek (b. 1966) is a Democratic member of the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 44. Kotek was first elected to the chamber in 2006. Kotek currently serves as speaker of the House. Kotek is running for re-election in the primary on May 15, 2018. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.
Kotek previously served as co-speaker pro tempore in 2011, and House Democratic leader in 2012. Prior to her election in 2006, Kotek ran unsuccessfully for the Oregon State House of Representatives in 2004.
On February 12, 2015, Kotek, Senate President Peter Courtney (D) and State Treasurer Ted Wheeler (D) called on Gov. John Kitzhaber (D) to resign over concerns of ethics violations in his administration. Kitzhaber announced his resignation from office on February 13, 2015, effective on February 18. Kotek earned her B.S. in Religious Studies from the University of Oregon in 1990 and her M.A. in International Studies from the University of Washington in 1998. Her professional experience includes working as a Policy Director for Children First for Oregon.
