TikTok star Rochelle Hager killed in accident while on phone with fiancee
A woman who amassed an engaged following on TikTok was killed this week when a tree branch fell on her car while she was driving.
Rochelle Hager, 31, was driving in in Farmington, Maine, around 10 a.m. on Monday when a gust of wind blew a large piece of a pine tree into the driver side of her car, according to NBC News. She was pronounced dead when emergency responders arrived on the scene, police said.
Hager was engaged to Brittanie Lynn Ritchie, 28, who addressed the incident in a social media post this week and said she was on the phone with her fiancee when the accident happened.
"A lot of you guys have been asking what happened and I wasn't ready to talk about it. It's still new. But I did go and get her stuff out of the car today," Ritchie said. "She wasn't in pain. She died instantly. I heard the crash and then there was nothing."
Hager had more than 129,000 followers on TikTok, a platform where she regularly posted about her relationship with Ritchie and their lives.
The couple was scheduled to get married in October of this year.
“We had a following on Tiktok, and she was all about positivity and making people laugh,” Ritchie told CentralMaine.com. “She was that kind of person. She was my son’s best friend.”
