In 1994, Thomas Greto was charged with embezzling about $400,000 from friends and business associates. He allegedly used the money on a gambling trip in Atlantic City. Greto was convicted of deceitful business practices, a misdemeanor, but was found not guilty on charges of theft. Greto acknowledged his misdemeanor and subsequent two-year jail time, but does not think it was relevant to the 2011 election. "It's passed, it's years ago. I know the Lord forgave me," Greto said. More recently in 2008, Greto filed for bankruptcy, which he said was the result of residual problems from the 1994 case.
