Policy Positions

Kentucky State Legislative Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion & Reproductive

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-choice

2. Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
- No Answer

3. Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
- No Answer

4. Other or expanded principles
- This is not a decision I wish to make for anyone. I am not aware of any publicly funded organizations that do abortions.Should the public pay for vasectomies or should the general assembly make this health care decision for men?

Budget, Spending, & Tax

Budget Stabilization:

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing Kentucky's budget.

1. Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
- No

2. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
- No

3. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
- No

4. An income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No Answer

5. Other or expanded principles
- I have requested tax modernization for at least 16 years, but there are just a few people in Frankfort who make this decision. Obviously they denied my request.

Campaign Finance & Government Reform

1. Do you support any limits on campaign contributions to state candidates?
- Yes

2. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

3. Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
- Yes

4. Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
- Yes

5. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Crime & Public Safety

1. Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
- No Answer

2. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes?
- No Answer

3. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- No Answer

4. Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
- No Answer

5. Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
- No Answer

6. Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders, such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
- Yes

7. Other or expanded principles
- Too many horror stories about the wrongly convicted to trust the death penalty.Med MJ/legalization: We need to continue to gather evidence, facts and outcomes from other states.Since a minor does not have a completely developed brain, they should not be tried as an adult.I support federal immigration laws but not stealing children from their family.

Economic

1. Do you support state government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No Answer

2. Do you support lowering state taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No Answer

3. Do you support reducing state government regulations on the private sector?
- No Answer

4. Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
- No

5. Do you support requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?
- No

6. Do you support an increase of the minimum wage of Kentucky?
- No Answer

7. Do you support the legalization of casino gambling in order to fund Kentucky's pension system?
- No Answer

8. Other or expanded principles
- Look at Braidy Industries, proof that we already spend to promote economic growth but do not drug test their Principles when they are given financial incentives. We have avoided tax modernization far too long. What state regulations regarding the "private sector" are you referring to? If welfare applicants are required to drug test, there must be treatment available if they are addicted for the benefit of their children. An increase would benefit those working two jobs and cannot make ends meet. Try it yourself! After 20 years, our leaders would still avoid the question, or a constitutional amendment.

Education

1. Do you support adopting federal education standards in Kentucky?
- No Answer

2. Do you support state funding for charter schools?
- No

3. Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from Kentucky high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
- No

4. Other or expanded principles

- No Answer

3. Do you support increasing state funding for clean drinking water initiatives?
- No Answer

4. Do you support decreasing compensation for citizens who generate excess energy from personal solar panels ("net-metering")?
- No Answer

5. Other or expanded principles
- The state cannot afford to fund renewable energy. The feds already regulate greenhouse gas emissions. We need tax modernization to fund clean water initiatives....AND water lines throughout the state!!!!Net metering. That was solved years ago and WHO wants to change it now?

Gun

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- No Answer

2. Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
- No Answer

3. Should teachers be allowed to bring guns into the classroom?
- No

4. Should a license be required for gun ownership?
- No Answer

5. Other or expanded principles
- I support the constitution regarding the right to own a gun. I am not aware of any new gun control legislation at the federal or state level.A background check is already being done when a gun is purchased, however you cannot diagnose mental health with a background check. Will the feds tackle this one???

- No Answer

4. Do you support legislation that grants citizens the right to choose to die through euthanasia?
- No Answer

5. Do you support eliminating religious exemptions for vaccinations?
- No Answer

6. Other or expanded principles
- The General Assembly needs to modernize taxes before we can deal with the expansion of healthcare or treatment facilities. Minimum wage earners cannot afford rent, transportation AND insurance at the same time. Put a pencil to it!I support citizens having a choice to die with dignity.Churches have many tax exemptions no other entity has in this country. If Ebola was in the US and a vaccine was available, I would require the children to be vaccinated. The parents could do what they wanted for their own protection.

- Yes

4. Other or expanded principles
- Anti discrimination laws: This really does not work since hate, judgment, the feeling of superiority and perfection comes from the heart. The latest federal report just released recognized that in Central KY, women are still paid 82 cents on the dollar compared to men, unless of course they make minimum wage.

Legislative Priorities

In the following area, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- I have fought for full disclosure in our our budget bills as well as the problem of corruption at all levels of government. I am one lone voice and still need a chorus behind me. I have great hope that newly elected officials will not work to have a road built for their convenience, leadership will not hog road funds or move them to the general budget, or have buildings named after living elected officials. I have only been fighting this for about 16 years and need some help.
