Steven S. Choi (b. January 15, 1944) is a Republican member of the California State Assembly, representing District 68. He was first elected to the chamber in 2016.
Choi is also a former mayor of Irvine, California. He was first elected to the position in 2012 and served until 2016. Before becoming mayor, Choi was a member of the Irvine City Council from 2004-2012 and served as a Trustee of the Irvine Unified School District from 1998-2004.
Choi earned his B.A. from Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea, his M.A. in Library Science from Louisiana State University and his Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. His professional experience includes working as a Peace Corps language instructor, college professor and operating Kumon Math and Reading Centers.
