Rodger Mell Smitherman is a Democratic member of the Alabama State Senate, representing District 18. He was first elected in 1994. Smitherman served as president pro tempore of the Alabama Senate from 2009 to 2010. Smitherman is running for re-election in the primary on June 5, 2018. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.
Smitherman earned his B.B.A. from the University of Montevallo and his J.D. from Miles Law School.
