Reason for Seeking Public Office:

I am running for Illinois Attorney General for two reasons: First, this state desperately needs an independent Attorney General who is not beholden to the special interests and political insiders. Second, I don't think that anyone else can do a better job than me. I realize that sounds arrogant, but I'm not seeing much in the way of leadership from our political class. If they aren't capable of finding someone better than me, then I feel an obligation to serve our state. One of my core beliefs is that you have no right to complain about a situation unless you have tried to change it.

When you read my biography, you'll see that I've succeeded in a variety of legal work ranging from running a legal assistance clinic to advising the Iraqi prosecutors in the Saddam trial. Along the way, I've developed solutions with folks from across the entire political spectrum.

Our state needs a new perspective, a new set of eyes, and new solutions. I hope you give me the opportunity to provide them and serve you.
