Policy Positions

New Hampshire Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-choice

2. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Budget

1. In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- Yes

2. In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- I believe we need to tax corporations and the top wealth in our nation at a higher rate than we currently do.I believe there is enough funding for defense in our nation and we need to reallocate a portion of that budget for other programs.

Campaign Finance

1. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- We need to repeal Citizens United. We need to eliminate SuperPAC's. We need to better police donations from corporations and unions and put a cap on any donation.

Economy

1. Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

2. Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- These are incredibly nuanced issues. I don't support an overwhelming amount of federal spending, rather the right federal spending in the right circumstances.Corporate taxes should be higher, not lower.

Education

1. Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- This is more detailed than yes or no can accommodate. I think each community has the right to find the correct educational approach for their community. Having said that, federal education standards should exist as a baseline to be built upon. It's possible a variety of federal standards could exist to help provide a measurable list of outcomes for the nation while not forcing unique communities to adopt standards which don't fit their student body.

Energy & Environment

1. Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- Yes

2. Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Guns

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- I support common-sense gun-control legislation. I believe in our second amendment rights, but also believe we have a right to life. The two should not be mutually exclusive. Background checks, waiting periods, continuing education and training requirements, proper storage of firearms, and elimination of bump stocks are some basic regulations I support.

Health Care

1. Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- The ACA was a first step towards our ultimate healthcare goals. I don't support repealing the bill and abandoning 20 million citizens using it without healthcare, but I do think we need to go further. We need a single-payer, Medicare for all, style healthcare solution in this country.

Immigration

1. Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
- No

2. Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- A wall is a complete waste of money. We need to revamp our immigration practices in a massive way. We need to find a path to citizenship for all peoples coming to our country to escape an environment they feel uncomfortable in.Attaining citizenship should be a process, but during this process we shouldn't turn our back on immigrants or treat them in an inhumane, indecent manner.

Marijuana

1. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- Marijuana not only has fewer drawbacks than both alcohol and tobacco, but it would provide a much needed revenue stream for our government and reduce costs associated with policing and disciplining recreational use.

National Security

1. Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
- No

2. Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- This is a highly nuanced set of issues. I believe we should remain focused on protecting our borders and citizens above all.Beyond that, I think there are specific circumstances, like humanitarian crisis, in which we interceded beyond our borders.

Administrative Priorities

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- My top priority is to bring the United States Government back into the hands of it's citizenry. For too long we've allowed the wealthy, connected, and privileged to run our country, often to the dismay of the majority. We need citizens of America who represent what our country actually is in office. We need to remove money from politics, insurance, and news media so our citizens can trust their elected officials, insurers, and news outlets.
