Priority Issues:

Job Creation, improving the business climate and fiscal responsibility for our state budget.

Policy Positions

California State Legislative Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion & Reproductive

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-life

2. Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
- Yes

3. Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
- Yes

4. Other or expanded principles
- I prefer the woman to keep her child from incest or rape, but I would leave the option open. There also could be incentives for the woman to keep the child and put it for adoption if desired.

Budget, Spending, & Tax

Budget Stabilization:

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing California's budget.

1. Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
- Yes

2. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
- No

3. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
- No

4. An income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- I support a state audit to see where we are as a state to see what needs to be cut or expanded.

Campaign Finance & Government Reform

1. Do you support any limits on campaign contributions to state candidates?
- Yes

2. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- No

3. Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
- No

4. Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
- Yes

5. Do you support repealing California's nonpartisan blanket primary election system?
- Yes

6. Other or expanded principles
- Independent redistricting commission only led to a political redistricting commission. I would like to see lotto balls being used to determine which redistricting consultant we use for 2021. Use a 4 out of 7 draw where the voter registration preference of the major and minor parties would be in the hopper.

Crime & Public Safety

1. Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
- Yes

2. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Yes

3. Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
- Yes

4. Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
- Yes

5. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Economic

1. Do you support state government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

2. Do you support lowering state taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

3. Do you support reducing state government regulations on the private sector?
- Yes

4. Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
- No

5. Do you support requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?
- No

6. Do you support an increase of the minimum wage of California?
- No

7. Do you support expanding state public housing programs?
- No

8. Other or expanded principles
- Minimum wage increase is already high enough, I would slow down the increase instead of making it unsustainable for small businesses. I support education access in addition to unemployment benefits. If we pass rent control (Prop 10) we will likely need increased public housing programs. But I prefer us not entering this field.

Education

1. Do you support adopting federal education standards in California?
- No

2. Do you support state funding for charter schools?
- Yes

3. Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from California high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
- No

4. Other or expanded principles
- I believe in county and local districts to have more choice in how they do their education policies, as long as the students are learning the local districts and counties should be left alone.

Environment & Energy

1. Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- No

2. Do you support state government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
- No

3. Do you support increasing state funding for clean drinking water initiatives?
- Yes

4. Do you support permanent statewide water usage restrictions?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- We should stop dumping water to the ocean as an excuse to ration our water consumption.

Gun

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- No

2. Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
- No Answer

3. Should teachers be allowed to bring guns into the classroom?
- No

4. Should a license be required for gun ownership?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- I support certified administrators who have a bond to carry guns in emergencies. I am not sure that private citizens do person to person transactions at gun shows, but a licences gun dealer should be the intermediary due to the increased anti-firearm climate of our state.

- Yes

2. Do you support Medicaid expansion through California's health care programs?
- Yes

3. Do you support requiring individuals to purchase health care insurance?
- No

4. Do you support legislation that grants citizens the right to choose to die through euthanasia?
- No

5. Do you support eliminating religious exemptions for vaccinations?
- No

6. Other or expanded principles
- Right to die will be abused and expanded to frontiers people never expected see places in the Netherlands such as people becoming blind and then they want to kill themselves afterwards.Medicaid expansion should require small payments each month for able-bodied individuals based on their income such as 15-25 bucks a month for individuals and 25-40 bucks for families. We should not use government force to require people to purchase health insurance.

Social

1. Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in California's anti-discrimination laws?

Legislative Priorities

In the following area, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- 1. Streamline housing development so there would be affordable housing being built. Waive permit fees if homes can be reasonably purchased by families earning a modest baseline. 2. Audit the state government so we know where we are as a state.3. End the weak on crime laws that are releasing criminals back on the street. Even if we have to build new prisons we build them and pass a bond to get them going in the next decade.
