Lovell resigned his seat in the state House on February 14, 2017, following allegations that had inappropriately touched a woman at the state legislature. Lovell denied that the inappropriate touching had occurred. After Lovell's resignation, the state House Ethics Subcommittee found that he had violated a new sexual harassment policy.
