Marcia Morey is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 30. Morey is running for re-election in the primary on May 8, 2018. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.
She was appointed to the chamber on April 5, 2017, after Philip Lehman (D) resigned on March 30, 2017.
Morey served as the district court judge for the 14th Judicial District Court, which presides over Durham County of North Carolina from 1999 to 2017. She served as chief district court judge from January 1, 2011, to her appointment to the North Carolina state House on April 5, 2017.
Morey earned her undergraduate degree from Millikin University in Illinois, her master's degree in education from Reed College, and her J.D. from the Northwestern University Law School. Her professional experience includes serving as the district court judge for the 14th Judicial District Court and as an assistant district attorney for the 14th Judicial District.
