Klein has been accused of intentionally pointing a loaded handgun at reporter Richard Ruelas of The Arizona Republic during an interview with him. Klein stated that she did not point the weapon at Ruelas, but that he sat down on a couch that happened to be in the gun's laser sight line. In Arizona senators can carry guns into the Capitol, although the public does not have the right to do so.
