Well, that didn’t take long.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has not even been laid to rest, and already some of the left’s most polarizing figures are lionizing her.

Because for Democrats, there is no bad time to virtue signal.

The Epoch Times reports:

New York will honor the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg with a statue in Brooklyn, where she was born, according to state officials.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement Saturday that he will appoint a commission to pick an artist and oversee the selection of a location. ... 

Cuomo also ordered state landmarks, including the One World Trade Center, the Grand Central Terminal, and Kosciuszko Bridge, lit in blue for Saturday night. Blue was reportedly Ginsburg’s favorite color. ...

In the months leading up to her death, Ginsburg dealt with a number of health issues and was hospitalized several times. She is survived by two children, Jane Carol Ginsburg and James Steven Ginsburg, as well as four grandchildren.

“The commission will be appointed in the coming days and, when formed, will provide recommendations to the Governor pertaining to the design, location and installation of the new memorial,” Cuomo said.

“While the family of New York mourns Justice Ginsburg’s death, we remember proudly that she started her incredible journey right here in Brooklyn,” Cuomo he added. 

“Her legacy will live on in the progress she created for our society, and this statue will serve as a physical reminder of her many contributions to the America we know today and as an inspiration for those who will continue to build on her immense body of work for generations to come.”

“New Yorkers from all walks of life should reflect on the life of Justice Ginsburg and remember all that she did for our nation as we view these beautifully lit monuments tonight,” Cuomo said in a separate statement.

Speaking of President Trump and statues in his home state of New York, do you think the perpetually petty, angry, and intolerant leftists who run the state will rush to lionize him in the same way? 

After all, and not to take anything away from Ginsburg, but let’s consider his accomplishments in less than four years: Record-setting employment; record-low unemployment for all demographics; historic Middle East peace deals; booming economy; dismantling of the regulatory state; historic trade deals…and so on. 

Plus, the justices that Trump is appointing actually care about what the Constitution says and how the framers intended it to be interpreted – which is what Supreme Court justices are supposed to do. For her part, brilliant nevertheless, Ginsburg was just another liberal activist judge-turned justice who, like those before and since, looked at our founding governing document as malleable to our current times. 

Does she deserve to be honored? Of course; she did serve her country and did so honorably. A statue? Maybe – in a couple years or so. 

But like everything Cuomo and virtue signaling political grifters like him do, pouncing on this statue idea now before Ginsburg is even interned at Arlington is just more gross opportunism.
