On November 3, 2023, Democratic leaders in the Arizona House of Representatives filed an ethics complaint against Sun. The complaint cited previously reported allegations that Sun harassed Tolleson city employees and made verbal death threats. In January of 2024, the Arizona House Ethics Committee held two hearings regarding the November ethics complaint. The Committee also investigated two additional incidents regarding Sun’s behavior; one claim of intimation and disorderly conduct related to Sun’s alleged interference in a court-ordered custody transfer in June of 2023, and one alleged threat made by Sun towards Tolleson Elementary School District superintendent Roger Freeman in December of 2022. On January 31, 2024, the Arizona House Ethics Committee found that Sun had committed a “pattern of disorderly behavior”, and that Sun was “in violation of Rule 1 of the Arizona House of Representatives."
