Roberts is a former Republican member of the Tennessee State Senate, representing District 18 from 2011 to 2012. Roberts won the 2011 special election on March 8, 2011, to fill the vacancy created when Diane Black (R) was elected to U.S. Congress on November 2, 2010. However, he did not seek re-election in 2012.
