Priority Issues:
Education: I personally benefited from a strong public education, and Alaska's future depends on providing a strong public education to future generations.
Energy: Expensive power smothers every type of economic activity -- just look at Angoon and Kake. Southeast Alaska needs to develop new energy resources, improve energy efficiency, and create new electrical interties in order to guarantee affordable energy for the present and future.
Native and Rural: Far too often, rural Alaska is forgotten and ignored. I intend to represent rural Southeast to the fullest extent of my ability -- traveling regularly to the villages, and making myself as accessible and present as possible. I pledge to visit every community in the district at least twice a year, regardless of whether it's an election year.
Good Government: I support the Bipartisan Working Group in the State Senate and believe that it's been good for Alaska. I'm a believer in bipartisan and coalition government, and will work to create coalitions in the State House. I will work as hard for communities that vote against me as communities that vote for me.
Transportation: Southeast cannot survive without a reliable transportation system. It needs to be reliable and regular. Our District is the size of New Jersey yet enjoys a remarkable cultural and social cohesiveness -- which needs to be reflected by transportation interconnections.
