James White is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 19. White was first elected to the chamber in 2010. White is running for re-election in 2018. The primary election took place on March 6, 2018. The general election is being held on November 6, 2018.

White earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical University in 1986. He then earned a master's degree in education administration from Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical University in 2000 and a master's in political science from the University of Houston in 2010.

White began working as an educator in Texas in 1993. Prior to that, he was a commissioned officer for the infantry in the United States Army from 1986 to 1992.
