James Brown (Republican Party) is a member of the Montana Public Service Commission, representing District 3. He assumed office on January 4, 2021. His current term ends on January 6, 2025.
Brown (Republican Party) is running for election for Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance, State Auditor. He is on the ballot in the Republican primary on June 4, 2024.
Brown was also a delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention from Montana. All 27 delegates from Montana were bound by state party rules to support Donald Trump at the convention. As of July 13, 2016, Trump had approximately 1,542 delegates. The winner of the Republican nomination needed the support of 1,237 delegates. Trump formally won the nomination on July 19, 2016.
James Brown graduated from Beaverhead County High School in 1989. Brown earned a degree in political science and history from the University of Montana at Missoula, a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2004, and a master's degree in tax law from the University of Washington at Seattle in 2005. His career experience includes working as a policy aide, a legislative director, and owning and operating the James Brown Law Office.
The primary will occur on June 4, 2024. The general election will occur on November 5, 2024. General election candidates will be added here following the primary.

He faced Edward McCrone, Michael More and Roger Koopman in the June 5 Republican primary, which Koopman ultimately won. Incumbent John Vincent and Mark Sweeney ran in the Democratic primary.
