Heather Balas was born in Clovis, New Mexico. She earned a bachelor's degree from Eastern New Mexico University in 1992, a graduate degree from the University of Maryland in 1996, and a policy leadership credential from Harvard Kennedy School in 2023.
Her career experience includes working as a nonprofit consultant, president and executive director of New Mexico First, and VP of the Election Reformers Network. Balas has been affiliated with the Corrales Planning & Zoning Commission, the New Mexico First board of directors, the Santa Fe Data Platform advisory board, Albuquerque Civic Chorus, and the League of Women Voters of New Mexico.
The primary will occur on June 4, 2024. The general election will occur on November 5, 2024. General election candidates will be added here following the primary.
