Garland E. Pierce is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 48. Pierce is running for re-election in the primary on May 8, 2018. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.
He was first elected to the chamber in 2004. He currently serves as the Democratic Conference Chair.
Pierce earned a B.S. from Fayetteville State University and a M.Div. from Shaw Divinity School. He is a Baptist minister. Pierce served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974.
