Reason for Seeking Public Office:
As a business executive managing people and delivering crucial medical services, I have the unique perspective of being able to see, firsthand, the impact of Connecticut's poor leadership and fiscal mismanagement on health care, small business, and vital services.
As a wife, mother, and grandmother, I watched my son and daughter, both of whom were raised and educated here in Connecticut, leave Connecticut, seeking what our state has failed to provide -- opportunity.
Throughout my career managing employee benefits, cultivating public policy as State Representative (1997-1999), managing municipal budgets as member of the Board of Finance and Finance Director, and serving on the State Board of Labor Relations, I have always focused my energy on efficiency, smart government, and making responsible financial decisions that open up opportunity for individuals and the community.
But where there is opportunity, there must be education. I firmly believe that you cannot improve the world, without improving education. And you cannot improve education, without improving the system that manages it.
TIME FOR ACTION
Whether you live in a city, the suburbs or a rural setting, Connecticut faces critical challenges that require people with courage, compassion and vision.
I will defend the rights of every child to get a quality education that meets the demands of today's economy.
I will not allow our state to continue to spend, borrow and tax opportunity away from those who seek it.
I will be in your corner, no matter what.
It is time for change - you deserve better. It is time for a voice of reason. It is time to elect a Senator with a vision, and the skills to get things done the right way. My name is Elaine Hammers, and I am asking for your support and your vote on November 8 to serve as as your representative in the Connecticut Senate!
