Bhargava's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ | Economic Prosperity
One of the biggest challenges facing the state and our town is economic – the slow growth that persists in the wake of the 2008 recession. We haven’t recovered as strongly as we should have, especially with our historic strengths in human capital, productivity and innovation. I don’t believe that increasing taxes is the necessary solution to solving our fiscal issues. Instead, we need creative ways to address and fix the budgetary problems in Hartford and create a more business and family friendly environment. This will entice our businesses and families to stay and thrive and will also attract new ones to move here. And naturally, the pool of tax income will increase. After spending two decades in the financial sector, I am equipped with the right combination of quantitative and negotiating skills to be a strong and effective voice on policy making and I intend to tackle these issues immediately. A healthier fiscal situation will make our town and state more resilient and competitive. Families For many years, I have sought ways to help the families in our community. Through my efforts as a Board Member for several non-profit organizations, I have been able to help enhance cultural awareness, aid underserved communities and promote gender parity. As the daughter of a single immigrant mother who struggled to support a family of four, I am very passionate about ensuring that our families have the support they require to lead healthy, vibrant lives. That our children have access to the best possible education and resources and that our elderly generation has the comfort and support network they need. And that every family and person has a fair chance without discrimination. As State Representative, I will work hard to ensure that Greenwich has access to the resources needed to enrich the vibrancy of our families. Public Health & Safety It is of great importance that the residents of Greenwich continue to enjoy safe and healthy livelihoods. It is crucial, therefore, that we have continued access to environmentally safe parks and school playgrounds, that our town water is clear of radicals, and that we are well prepared to address any outbreak of disease. In the ever changing world that surrounds us, it is very important that we remain continually attuned to what factors play into keeping our town safe. Crime, drug trafficking, and the use and possession of illegal weapons are some of the issues that are of most concern to me. Therefore, as your State Representative, I plan to immediately address all of these crucial issues. |
