Toland is the 52nd lieutenant governor of Kansas. Gov. Laura Kelly appointed him Kansas Lieutenant Governor on December 14, 2020, and he assumed office on January 4, 2021. He replaced Lynn Rogers (D), who left office in January 2021 to become Kansas Treasurer.
