Policy Positions

Nevada Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-choice

2. Other or expanded principles
- I believe there are reasons to allow for abortions.

Budget

1. In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- Yes

2. In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- My interest in reducing defense spending starts first with oversight to ensure that tax dollars are spent appropriately.

Campaign Finance

1. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Economy

1. Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

2. Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- Currently, I believe corporate taxes have been lowered enough with the latest Tax Bill passed in December 2017.

Education

1. Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- I do believe however, federal education standards should be made in consultation with the states.

Energy & Environment

1. Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- Yes

2. Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Guns

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- I support the 2nd Amendment and I do not want to take normal guns away from people. I am all for gun safety and responsible gun ownership - I support Moms Demand Action (gun safety, not gun control). I've owned a gun all my life. However, I support a ban on assault weapons, bump stocks, silencers etc. and I also support instant background checks on all gun sales.

Health Care

1. Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- The ACA was not a perfect document but rather than repeal it, Congress and the Administration should have tried to fix or improve the ACA. Changing Medicare Part D to allow Medicare to negotiate for prescription drugs would have been a good place to start.

Immigration

1. Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
- No

2. Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- Since they are here, and providing they are law-abiding citizens, they should be provided with a pathway to citizenship. That being said, our borders need to be protected and illegal immigration should be kept to a minimum. I am opposed to a wall. Show me a 50 foot wall and I will show you a 52 foot ladder.

Marijuana

1. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- The use of recreational marijuana appears to be the norm of our society. I say, follow the will of the people.

National Security

1. Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
- Yes

2. Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- I support military force only if it is clearly for our self-defense. Aside from that, I do not want us to use military force. Rather, we should use a coalition of forces to oppose governments hostile to our country. The United States alone, cannot police the entire world.

Administrative Priorities

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- 1. Reduce healthcare costs by changing Medicare Part D to allow Medicare to negotiate prescription drugs to lower costs.2. Introduce legislation to require states to form independent commissions to redistrict political boundaries to prevent gerrymandering and to preserve one person, one vote.3. Introduce legislation to repeal Citizens United, to take dark monies out of politics.
