Dan Barrett is a Republican member of the North Carolina State Senate, representing District 34. Barrett was first appointed to the chamber on August 23, 2017, to replace Andrew Brock (R). He was sworn in to the chamber on August 24. Because of redistricting, Barrett is running for re-election in District 31. The primary election will be held on May 8, 2018. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.
Barrett was a 2016 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 13th Congressional District of North Carolina. Barrett was defeated by Ted Budd in the Republican primary.
