Policy Positions

Arizona Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-life

2. Other or expanded principles
- I support the Hyde Amendment. The Hyde Amendment is a legislative provision barring the use of federal funds to pay for abortion except to save the life of the woman, or if the pregnancy arises from incest or rape.

Budget

1. In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No

2. In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- The United States? budget continues to grow each year. Currently, our country has over $20 trillion in debt and growing. If we continue to kick the can down the road, this pattern will ultimately have a dire effect on future generations and government effectiveness. It is incredibly important to get our spending under control to avoid such adverse impacts. Creating efficiencies in government operations will eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse and ultimately reduce unnecessary expenditures.

Campaign Finance

1. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Economy

1. Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

2. Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Education

1. Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- States should be in charge of their own education standards.

Energy & Environment

1. Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- Yes

2. Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- Yes, The United States Government should have federal regulations of greenhouse gas emissions. I wholeheartedly support research on and progress toward the use of renewable energy technologies to replace the use of fossil fuels. I support any effort that reduces our reliance on fossil fuels. This includes wind, and solar initiatives.

Guns

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- I am a firm supporter of the Second Amendment, and I will work vigorously to defend the rights of gun owners. As a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Arizona Citizens Defense League (AzCDL), I firmly believe that the right of self-defense and bearing arms are the foundation for all other rights. The Right to Keep and Bear Arms is not principally about hunting or recreation. In fact, the Second Amendment to our Constitution is our Founding Fathers? restatement of our natural God-given right to defend life, liberty, and property.

Health Care

1. Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- I am a firm believer in capitalism and the free market. Sadly, due to greed in the healthcare industry, which includes healthcare insurance, health providers, and the pharmaceutical industry and FDA regulations a system has been developed to prevent the free market from working. We continue to experience higher costs in health care and prescription medicine with lower quality of care. How can the same pill cost 100 dollars in the United States and 2 dollars in Canada or Mexico? I would like to see FDA deregulation.

Immigration

1. Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
- Yes

2. Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- I am for increasing support to our border security and preventing illegal immigration. I am entirely against amnesty. It is unfair to immigrants who have legally pursued and followed our immigration process. I would like to see Congress implement integration programs for legal immigrants, which would include opportunities for new immigrants to learn about the values and culture, and the English language of the United States before proceeding to U.S. citizenship. I would also support ending birthright citizenship and implementing merit-based immigration and E-verify.

Marijuana

1. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

National Security

1. Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
- Yes

2. Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Administrative Priorities

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- Border security I am for increasing support to our border. The U.S. Border Patrol needs more roads alongside the border, more technology, and more U.S. Border Patrol agents on the ground. Immigration reforms I am against DACA, birthright citizenship, and for the implementation of a merit-based immigration system. I would like to see the E-Verify as a mandatory program for all employers. Balanced BudgetI am for the legislature that makes a balanced budget law. We need to eliminate our debt and become fiscally responsible. Term limits I support term limits for Congressman (3 terms), and Senators (2 terms)
