On July 23, 2021, Posthumus pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated and was sentenced to 15 days in jail, 15 days of community service, and 24 months of probation. On April 30, Posthumus crashed his car, and police arrested him after finding that his blood-alcohol level was over the legal limit. In a news release, Posthumus said, "There is no excuse for what happened, and I take full and complete responsibility for my actions."
