Bruce Fischer was born in New York and lives in Longs, South Carolina. He joined the United States Army in 1966. He was deployed to Vietnam and went on to become an Army flight instructor after his tour of duty. Fischer earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from SUNY-Stony Brook. His career experience includes working in private practice, large hospital systems, and academia. He has two children.
