Andy Manar is a Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate, representing District 48. Manar was first elected to the chamber in 2012. Manar is running for re-election in 2018. The primary election took place on March 20, 2018. The general election is being held on November 6, 2018.
Manar earned a bachelor's degree in history from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In 1997, he was elected to the Bunker Hill City Council. Manar served as mayor of Bunker Hill from 2001 to 2003. In 2003, he joined the Macoupin County Board and was elected chairman in 2004. He served four successive terms.
