Reason for Seeking Public Office:

In these challenging times when our country is facing ongoing threats to our national and economic security, Maine needs elected representatives with the experience, knowledge and principles to secure America's future.

I'm running for Congress because my many years of military, legal, business and volunteer experience qualify me to provide the common sense, practical solutions our country needs desperately.

My dad is my role model. He taught me the value of hard work and that we owe a duty to others above ourselves. He served our nation proudly.

I've embraced service my entire adult life. In the military, I served as an active duty submarine officer and later as a reservist charged with developing plans to help root out extremism during the Global War on Terror in East Africa. During Hurricane Sandy, I led the efforts that resulted in detachments from all branches of the military helping to restore essential buildings ravaged by the storm.

Service has characterized my volunteer life as well. While balancing family, work and the Navy Reserve, I've provided leadership and shared my knowledge and experience to help others by serving on numerous municipal boards and committees in North Yarmouth.

Tutoring high school students, serving on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Topsham, teaching Sunday school, leading a Cub Scout den--- I know the future of our nation lies in our children. I've worked hard to ensure the children of Maine access to high quality choices for their education, most recently by serving on the Maine State Board of Education and as the Vice Chair of the Maine Charter School Commission.

As I, along with many of you, watched the cold-blooded massacre in Paris and the slaughter of innocent Americans in San Bernardino by Islamist Jihadists, Iranian hostage taking and a nuclear deal so bad as to light the powder keg of the Middle East, Syrian refugees being brought to the country without real vetting, a border unsecured, a listless economy shackled by massive federal regulation, a President -- enabled by supporters like Chellie Pingree --, abusing the Constitution by unbridled executive action threatening our 2nd Amendment rights, it became clear how best I can serve the people of Maine.

I'm running for Congress to secure a better future for Maine and America. I would be proud and humbled to have the honor to serve Maine's 1st Congressional District in Congress.
