Alan Powell is a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 32. He was first elected to the chamber in 1990.
Powell serves as Chair of the Hart County Board of Commissioners.

Following his unopposed victory in the November 2, 2010, general election, Powell resigned from the Democratic caucus on November 5, subsequently switching his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican. He stated, “My duty is to represent the citizens of my district the best I can. I think my voice can be better heard on the other side.”
