ABC News is projecting that former President Donald Trump will win Alabama's nine electoral votes.

Alabama voters also weighed in on several down-ballot contests.

Alabama is a consistently red state, with more than 60% of its voters casting ballots for the Republican Party’s candidate in every presidential election since 2004. A Democrat has not carried the state in a presidential election since Jimmy Carter in 1976.

Last summer, the Supreme Court decided that Alabama’s congressional maps, which only had one majority-Black district, were unconstitutional. A new 2nd Congressional District, with a near-majority Black population, was created. Democrat Shomari Figures defeated Republican Caroleen Dobson in that seat.

Counties are colored red or blue when the % expected vote reporting reaches a set threshold. This threshold varies by state and is based on patterns of past vote reporting and expectations about how the vote will report this year.
