Valenzuela earned a bachelor’s degree in electronic industrial engineering from El Instituto Tecnólogico de Chihuahua and a master’s degree in curriculum and instructional leadership from The College of Santa Fe. Valenzuela's career experience includes working as a teacher with Albuquerque Public Schools and professional development coordinator. Valenzuela served on the board of directors for Dual Language Education New Mexico.
