Reason for Seeking Public Office:

If you're like me, your family life pulls you in many different directions. Your time is valuable and you have to make choices about where to get involved. The needs are great all around us and the world will exhaust you if you don't learn to say no sometimes. Being involved in politics was not in the forefront of my life until recently. I can no longer stand by and watch our country deteriorate.

We can't pretend that we don't need drastic, fundamental change -- or else our children's children will know about American greatness only if they read about it in the history books.

I want a future for my family. I want opportunity and freedom for all of us.

I'm tired of accepting politics as usual, filled with dishonesty and corruption, with no real solutions. Now is the time for us to step up and make a difference.

There are serious problems facing North Carolina, and the solutions are not more big government "one size fits all" programs. The solution is less government and more freedom.

Our citizens are not responsible for getting us into this massive amount of debt and destroying this economy. Our work ethic hasn't changed -- our government is what's changed. It's grown and grown, and now it's gotten so big, it's bankrupting our state. We can't afford to keep spending like we did in the last decade.

Ridiculous regulations are strangling our small businesses. The private sector hasn't been creating jobs, because they spend increasingly more time and money hiring lawyers and CPAs -- just to figure out what they can and can't do -- instead of spending their time satisfying customers and their money creating new jobs.

Too many of our children graduate without basic job skills. And bureaucrats throughout state government refuse to reform the system and insist we throw more money into the same failing policies. I believe we owe it to our children to prepare them to compete in the global economy, whether that is through college or not.

I'm running to make a difference in people's lives; starting first with an attitude to serve. I will always tell you the truth and won't put up with politics as usual. I will always be the same in Raleigh as I am here at home.

Here's my pledge to you. I will:

1. Get government out of the way, so our economy can grow. I'll fight to create jobs that will last, and that means voting to further your interests, not my time in office.
