Shay Shelnutt

Shay Shelnutt is a Republican member of the Alabama State Senate, representing District 17. He was first elected to the chamber in 2014. Shelnutt is running for re-election in the primary on June 5, 2018. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.
Shelnutt received his bachelor's degree in business finance and his M.A.Ed. in math from the University of Montevallo. His professional experience includes teaching and coaching at the high school level, teaching at Jefferson State Community College, and working in real estate and business development.

Seeing how the recession has affected so many in the real estate market has been heart wrenching. These events have opened Shay's eyes to the need for economic leadership in our community which will work with local leaders to create new jobs.
