Priority Issues:
* Opposition to any and all corporate welfare used to create so-called "affordable housing," such as the 421-A scam.
* State funding so that no one making under $50,000 has to spend more than a third of their income on housing.
Reason for Seeking Public Office:
I am not bought by larger corporations. I speak for struggling young college graduates and my friends of the working class and homeless.
1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-choice
2. Other or expanded principles
- While I don't particularly care for the choice of abortion, a woman has a right to her own body until the baby is viable.
1. In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- Yes
2. In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
- Yes
3. Other or expanded principles
- I believe in severely curtailing defense spending and stopping wars of choice/profit, including our incessant bombing of third world countries. I also believe in charging high percentages for upper income brackets as was done in the 1950s and '60s.
1. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes
2. Other or expanded principles
- I support public financing of elections to allow third parties an equal voice rather than the illusion of democracy we currently have.
1. Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes
2. Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No
3. Other or expanded principles
- Effective corporate taxes in the United States are among the lowest in the world, even though the taxes on paper might look like the highest. When corporations paid their fair share in taxes, the whole country thrived. Now, only the big corporations are thriving.
1. Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
- No
2. Other or expanded principles
- Not under current models, although I do think a floor needs to be set.
1. Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- Yes
2. Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
- Yes
3. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer
1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- Yes
2. Other or expanded principles
- Gun regulations have been effective in Australia and the UK.
1. Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
- No
2. Other or expanded principles
- Not unless we can first replace it with Medicare for All.
1. Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
- No
2. Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
- No
3. Other or expanded principles
- There is no good reason to have open borders for capital and closed borders for labor. This is all about exploitation.
1. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Yes
2. Other or expanded principles
- And all who are currently in prison on marijuana-related offenses need to be released, their criminal records expunged, and restitution made to them. It is morally repugnant for some people to be legally making a profit from marijuana while others remain in prison for doing the same thing.
1. Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
- No
2. Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
- No
3. Other or expanded principles
- I support boycott, divestment, and sanction of Israel and Saudi Arabia for their many war crimes against Palestine, Gaza, and Yemen. While I know I could never get it passed, I would attempt to introduce legislation that would criminalize legislators who support unconstitutional bills such as Schumer's anti-BDS bill.
Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- I support restoration of Glass-Steagall legislation and an nationwide expansion of Utah's Housing First Policy, as well as Medicare for All. We need our tax money the way the people want it spent, not on wars for profit. Much of this could be paid by severely curtailing war spending, starting with ending the bombing of Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, and Libya, and any other countries we might be bombing since that report was made.
