1. In both of these cases, it depends on the totality of the circumstances. My background is in international relations and specifically, the Middle East. I understand the complexity of that region, and my support of military intervention and to what extent would depend greatly on the situation. For the use of military force for hostile governments desiring to possess a nuclear weapon, we should always utilize diplomacy and economic sanctions first before resorting to military intervention.
- "We should only utilize our military might when the United States is attacked by a clearly identified enemy or in a situation where an aggressor violates the sovereignty of an ally. The Gulf War of the 1990s under President George Bush Sr. was a model example of a successful military operation. In this situation, there was a clear, limited mission. We worked in collaboration with the international community, and we ensured the integrity of international law and an allyâ??s national sovereignty. As a U.S. Representative, I would utilize these criteria when evaluating whether to vote for or against going to war." https://lauraforkansas.com/index.php/solutions/national-security (lauraforkansas.com)
