Joanne C. Benson (b. March 11, 1941) is a Democratic member of the Maryland State Senate, representing District 24. She was first elected to the chamber in 2010. Benson is running for re-election in the primary on June 26, 2018. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.

Benson served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1991 to 2011. She served as deputy House majority leader.

Benson earned her B.S. in education from Bowie State College in 1961 and her M.A. in curriculum instruction from the Catholic University of America in 1972.
