Abortion & Reproductive Issues:

Pro-choice a) Abortions should always be legally available.
Yes b) Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
Yes c) Should abortion be legal when the life of the woman is endangered?
Yes d) Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
e) Other or expanded principles:
I believe it is a woman's civil right to choose. In addition, I would add that psychological counseling and therapy should be publicly funded before and after making the decision.

Budget, Spending, & Tax Issues:

1) Budget Stabilization:
Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing New Jersey's budget.
Yes a) Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions
Yes b) Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees
No c) Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients
Yes d) An income tax increase on any tax bracket
e) Other or expanded principles:
The state has issues with corruption and political machines that need to be taken care off. Contracts and play for pay schemes are universal. Our budget should be used to expand prosecutor office for white collar crimes, institute a program for citizens to have oversight of local boe eleted officials, and educate public to report fraud. Even though NJ has one of the strictest whistle blower laws, there should be public legal branch to help victims without the hassle of finding an attorney. In addition, there needs to be stricter punishments on public officials to deter corruption.

Campaign Finance & Government Reform Issues:

a) Do you support limits on the following types of contributions for state candidates?
Yes 1) Individual
Yes 2) Political Action Committee
Yes 3) Corporate
Yes 4) Political Party
Yes b) Do you support requiring full and timely disclosure of campaign finance information?
Yes c) Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Yes d) Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
Yes d) Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
No e) Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
f) Other or expanded principles:
I would support point E only if all members of the state are given a state issued id free of charge without the hassles of bureaucracy to ensure safe and fair elections.

Crime & Public Safety Issues:

No a) Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
Yes b) Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders, such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
Yes c) Do you support legalizing the possession of small amounts of marijuana?
No d) Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
No e) Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
No f) Do you support delaying the seizure of assets by law enforcement officials until after a conviction?
g) Other or expanded principles:
Point F is a tricky slope and should be done on a case by case basis. If the person is a flight threat, I believe law enforcement has the right to seize passport. With warrant under criminial investigation, any records and freezing monetary assets should be accepted. Again, this should be case by case and left to judicial review and not the legislative branch. Point A is inhumane in a civilized society and costs the states too much money through legal expenses, therapy and compassion should always be the go to in a just and fair society.

Economic Issues:

Yes a) Do you support government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes b) Do you support lowering taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes c) Do you support reducing government regulations on the private sector?
Yes d) Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
No e) Do you support requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?
Yes f) Do you support an increase of the minimum wage?
Yes g) Do you support legalized state-sponsored sports betting in New Jersey?
Yes h) Do you support a tax on short-term housing rentals in New Jersey?
i) Other or expanded principles:
There is no evidence to support E and as Florida has shown in it's test run that it is a model which wastes money in comparison to how much it saves.

Education Issues:

No a) Do you support the national Common Core State Standards initiative?
Yes b) Do you support state funding for charter schools?
Yes c) Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from New Jersey high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities in New Jersey?
d) Other or expanded principles:
Education for public schools should be accessible for everyone. Even though I do support charter schools and only in certain regions with strict oversight as public schooling is failing in some areas. There is certain situations, I don't support charter schools if the school is making a profit or run by a for profit company or is granted to an individual with no education background. The state should have complete oversight of it and students should never be kicked out bring they might bring down certain markers as it is happening in some urban centers of NJ today.

Environment & Energy Issues:

Yes a) Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
Yes b) Do you support state funding for open space preservation?
Yes c) Do you support government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
d) Other or expanded principles:
I also support spending more money in cleaning up NJ. Our state has been polluted beyond means for generations and as a biologist, our environment is directly synonymous with our health which includes placing more measures on water safety.

Gun Issues:

Yes a) Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Yes b) Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
Yes c) Should citizens be allowed to carry concealed guns?
Yes d) Should a license be required for gun possession?
e) Other or expanded principles:
Point A is a state to state issue and in NJ, I believe our gun laws are sometimes lacking common sense measures. Antique guns which can't shoot are needed to be licensed which seems ridiculous. I also believe ex-police, ex-military members and civilians who have more than 1500 hours of safe training with a gun should be able to carry it concealed. Training is the key here and the state needs to add written exams for additional safeguards.

Health Issues:

Yes a) Do you support a universally-accessible, publicly-administered health insurance option?
Yes b) Do you support Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Yes c) Do you support requiring individuals to purchase health care insurance?
Yes d) Do you support allowing doctors to prescribe marijuana to their patients for medicinal purposes?
e) Other or expanded principles:
It would be on the best interest of society to have a single payer system, but I firmly believe it should come down from the federal government and not the state who is dealing with their own financial woes today. Healthcare has been clearly a market failure as private companies are abusing the system and CEOs making large amounts of money in the expense of civilians who are not being able to get coverage. We are the only society in the Western world without universal healthcare, but due to corruption, price gauging, and lobbying, the insurance companies have retained control.

Social Issues:

Yes a) Do you support same-sex marriage?
Yes b) Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in New Jersey's anti-discrimination laws?
Yes c) Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in New Jersey's anti-discrimination laws?
d) Other or expanded principles:
Civil rights of individuals should always be a field which should be progressing, but it is important to have oversight committees, which can also enforce organizations/individuals breaking the civil rights of others in employment, etc... If there is not oversight and enforcement of a law, then that law is just words which lack meaning in a law textbook.

Legislative Priorities:

In the following area, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
1) Lower Property Taxes of Many Residents
Many people can't afford to live here anymore. I do not want to see any more good people who spent their entire lives here move because of financial woes and a tax burden not being addressed. The way to this is consolidation of service, reducing superintendents and political cronyism.
2) Economic Stimulus Plan to Reward Small Businesses, Entrepreneurs, and the Youth
Political cronyism within our state and tax breaks rewards massive corporations at the expense of our constituents who end up paying it with increased turnpike costs, sales taxes, property taxes.
