    Cameron was a Republican member of the Idaho State Senate, representing District 27, from 2012–2015, and representing District 26 prior to that, beginning in 1990. After winning re-election in November 2014, Cameron vacated his senate seat in June 2015 to accept his appointment by Gov. Otter to serve as state insurance director.
