Zuckerman won both the Democratic and Vermont Progressive Party nominations for lieutenant governor of Vermont in the August 9, 2016, primary elections. He won the general election on November 8, 2016, and was sworn into office on January 5, 2017.

Zuckerman was elected again as lieutenant governor of Vermont in 2022. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022, and was sworn in on January 5, 2023.
