I support reducing wasteful government spending. I'm working to improve government efficiency at all levels, including at the Department of Defense, that can save taxpayer dollars and reduce spending.

I support ensuring transparency and disclosures in campaign spending so voters can see how money is spent.

I supported bipartisan repeal of No Child Left Behind with passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act giving more power to states and communities to make the best decisions for their students.

I'm leading in a bipartisan way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions including introducing carbon capture legislation.

I've voted in support of community safety measures designed to curb violence including gun violence. I worked to secure grant funding for the Des Moines police department, advocated for additional background check funding at the federal level, voted in support of the Stop School Violence Act, the Fix NCIS Act, to stop the sale of bump stocks, and joined my colleagues in introducing bipartisan "red flag" legislation.

We've tried partisan approaches to address the failure of current health care law, and now we must come together to pass bipartisan legislation to repeal, reform, fix or anything else you want to call addressing our current health system. The costs of health care is a nonpartisan issue, and working to help all Americans access quality and affordable care should also be a nonpartisan issue.

I support a legal status for illegal immigrants who have not commitment crimes or posed any threat to their communities or our country. We are a welcoming and compassionate nation, but we are also a nation of laws and a balance can be achieved.

American intervention into international conflicts needs to be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The primary responsibility of the federal government is to protect American citizens and I'd support increased intervention should that be required to accomplish this responsibility.

I've always viewed my role as the Representative of Iowa's Third District as bringing the voice and values of my constituents to Congress. If elected, I'll continue to serve my bosses, the people of the Third District, and ensure their priorities are brought to Washington.
I'll continue to build on the economic success we've seen in the last two years and work to reduce regulation, and increase international markets for Iowa farmers and manufacturers.
I'll also continuing fighting to protect those with pre-existing conditions and work in a bipartisan way to lower the cost of quality health care.
