- We must stand up for the invaluable impact that every human life has on this world. For me, this is personal. As a pro-life mom of three, part of my story is with my oldest son, Cole, who was born with down syndrome. When my husband and I received that news, it wasn't what we expected. Now, 10 years later, Cole is working his way through the fifth grade. He lights up a room. People are drawn to him. He is in Cub Scouts and plays sports. He inspires me every day.

- We've already seen the benefits this brings. Since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was passed, companies are investing in America again, creating millions of jobs, raising wages, and giving bonuses. In fact, the unemployment rate is at its lowest level since 2000 and businesses are more optimistic than they've been in decades to hire more people and expand their business.

Absent a reform to our nation's immigration laws, I would support current law.

- One of my top priorities as Eastern Washington's representative in congress is to ensure veterans get the care they've earned. The United States owes a debt of gratitude and service to the veterans and their families who have sacrificed for our country. I am proud to have co-sponsored the Faster Care for Veterans Act, which works to modernize the VA's scheduling process to reduce wait times. Acts like this one are a good start, but we can and must do more to take care of our veterans.

McMorris sanctioned by House Ethics Committee for violating campaign finance rules

On December 19, 2019, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers was sanctioned by the House Ethics Committee for violating House campaign finance rules. The Ethics Committee reported that, “Rodgers likely accepted official services from … three consultants that were defrayed with political funds or not compensated at all, in violation of Rule XXIV,” and that, “her staff used official resources, including official staff time, congressional office space, and travel funds, for political activities.” The Ethics Committee unanimously voted to issue the report titled, In the Matter of Allegations Relating to Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers, which served "as a reproval of Representative Rodgers’ conduct,” and required Rodgers to reimburse the U.S. Treasury $7,575.95. Upon payment of the $7,575.95 reimbursement to the U.S. Treasury this matter will be considered officially closed.
