Angelo Farooq is a member of the Riverside Unified Board of Education in California, representing Trustee Area 3. He assumed office in 2015. His current term ends on December 13, 2024.

Farooq (Democratic Party) ran for election to the California State Senate to represent District 31. He lost in the primary on March 5, 2024.

Farooq earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a master's degree and doctoral degree from the University of Southern California. He is a partner at The Omnius Group. He is also a lecturer at the University of California at Riverside School of Business Administration and the founding director of the University of California at Riverside Center for Economic Development & Innovation. Farooq is a member of the Green Collar Jobs Council and the Increased Skills and Credential Attainment committee. He was appointed by California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) to serve on the California Workforce Investment Board in 2013. In 2015, he was appointed by California Controller Betty Yee (D) to serve on her Council of Economic Advisors. Farooq is also an elected member of the Pacific Council on International Policy. He also serves with the University of Southern California Price Athenian Society and Rotary International.

2020

Riverside Unified School District, California, elections (2020)

The Area 3 election was canceled due to a lack of opposition. Incumbent Angelov Farooq was automatically elected to another term.

2015

Three of the five seats on the Riverside Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 3, 2015. The election was held by district. Incumbents Patricia Lock Dawson, Gayle Cloud and Tom Hunt from Trustee Areas 2, 3 and 4, respectively, were up for re-election.

In Trustee Area 2, Dawson defeated challenger Sandra Ramirez. Cloud did not file to run for re-election to the Trustee Area 3 seat, leaving it open to a newcomer. Angelov Farooq ran unopposed and won that seat. Hunt defeated challenger Tad Hove in the Trustee Area 4 race.

Results

Angelov Farooq ran unopposed. Farooq won the Trustee Area 3 seat by default.

Funding

Farooq reported $11,099.00 in contributions and $715.60 in expenditures to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters, which left his campaign with $10,923.40 in the election.

The first campaign finance reporting deadline was September 24, 2015, and the second one was October 22, 2015. If candidates raised or spent more than $1,000 from a single source, including their own funds, between August 5, 2015, and November 2, 2015, they had to file a campaign finance report within 24 hours.
