Tracker:After Mooney relocated from Maryland to West Virginia in 2013, he faced accusations of being a "carpetbagger." In a December 11, 2013, interview, Mooney defended his move, saying that the panhandle is “the fastest growing part of West Virginia; a lot of folks have moved from Maryland and other places. And frankly, they’ve embraced my candidacy and are excited about it.”
Congress convened a joint session on January 6-7, 2021, to count electoral votes by state and confirm the results of the 2020 presidential election. Mooney voted against certifying the electoral votes from Pennsylvania. The House rejected the objection by a vote of 138-282.
