Shomari Figures (Democratic Party) is running for election to the U.S. House to represent Alabama's 2nd Congressional District. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. He advanced from the Democratic primary runoff on April 16, 2024.
Figures graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and history in 2006 and a J.D. in 2010. After clerking for a judge on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, Figures worked on President Barack Obama's (D) re-election campaign. He worked in the White House and the U.S. Department of Justice during Obama's second term, then in the office of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). Figures returned to the Department of Justice under President Joe Biden (D), serving as deputy chief of staff and counselor to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.
