Kristie Powe was born in Chicago, Illinois. Powe earned a high school diploma from Franklin County High School, a bachelor's degree from Kentucky State University in 2015, and attended Fisk University. Her career experience includes working as a small business owner and licensed health and life insurance agent. She has been affiliated with Focus on Race Relations, Frankfort Human Rights Commission, Rotary, Kiwanis, Elks Lodge, NAACP, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and Black Female Artists of Frankfort.
