Jay Hottinger

Jay Hottinger (b. December 1, 1969) is a Republican member of the Ohio State Senate, representing District 31. Hottinger was first elected to the chamber in 2014. Hottinger is running for re-election in the primary on May 8, 2018. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.
Hottinger served in the Ohio House of Representatives, representing District 71 from 2006 to January 5, 2015. He was ineligible to run for re-election to the House in 2014 because of term limits. Scott Ryan (R) was elected to his seat in the November 4, 2014, general election.
He also served in the Ohio House of Representatives, representing District 71 from 1995 to 1999. He previously served in the Ohio State Senate from 1999 to 2007. Hottinger was a member of the Newark City Council from 1992 to 1994 and served as its president pro tempore in 1994.
Hottinger earned his B.A. in political science and administration from Capital University. His professional experience includes working as an office manager for Jay Company and as an electrical contractor.
