Personal Hero and Why:

My personal hero was Paul Morguez, known as Blinky, a team leader with H Company, 75th Rangers, in Vietnam. He was the best soldier I ever met, the person I wanted to become as a leader, only two years older than me. Unfortunately, he never conquered PTSD and died far too young. He had so much to offer if only treatment options had been available then.

Policy Positions

South Carolina Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-choice

2. Other or expanded principles
- My wife and I personally oppose abortion. That is a personal decision. My aunt and uncle adopted two American children in the 60s, but Americans now go to Russia and Korea to adopt. We need to bring back homes for unwed mothers like before, make it easier for women to have children with leave, and streamline American adoption.

Budget

1. In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- Yes

2. In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- I believe in Eisenhower's stance on taxes. We need to bring back the Marginal Tax Rate, which would mean taxing anything above 10 million dollars (income) at 90 percent. We need to not only balance the budget, but pay off our national debt. We also need to lower our "defense" spending to match the rest of the world. Our military hasn't won a single war with all this spending, proof enough it is all wasted. I also note our procurement system is corrupt; see my video on the unnecessary deaths of 1,400 Americans in Humvees due to procurement corruption.

Campaign Finance

1. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- As a third party candidate I do not receive, nor have requested money from corporations. This system is not "broken," but works very well for both parties. They rake in one billion per year in donations. Just one example. Pharma gives millions every year. My website shows how Congress could reduce drug prices in a day by employing two current laws: revoke the patent (making public domain) or using march-in-rights. Because party leaders refuse to end the gravy train these laws are never mentioned. I won't shut up. Insulin is up 1,200 percent. EpiPen costs five dollars to produce.

Economy

1. Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

2. Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- Past party leaders help corporations avoid ALL taxes through inversion, taking them offshore. Tax receipts from corporations went from 35 percent to 15 percent. They need to pay their fair share. Also, corporations like Walmart and Amazon pay employees low wages while becoming billionaires themselves. Many employees are on welfare and food stamps thanks to greedy corporate leaders. Teddy Roosevelt spoke about this 100 years ago, stating how it was morally wrong, and coined the phrase "living wage."

Education

1. Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- Although I have many teachers in my family, including mother and sister. Federal testing has limited teaching to teaching for a specific exam. We now rank lowest in scores for math and science. Let's get back to encouraging teachers to "teach." This is an honorable profession with low pay in many states and cities.

Energy & Environment

1. Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- Yes

2. Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- Most are unaware that our Founding Fathers were for taxes for infrastructure, which is why we became an economic powerhouse. We also followed Hamilton's 11 Points, which included such spending as well as protective tariffs. With that in mind, we should follow what once worked, investing in renewable energy and technology, as well as protecting the industry. After all, Reagan ended 200 years of Hamilton's plan and now China follows it! Now you see why they are beating us?

Guns

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- We need to enforce what we have. I am a gun owner and former hunter--as well as paratrooper and Vietnam Veteran--who still likes to shoot. I also own an M-16 and AK-47, both weapons of my war. I do not believe in prohibition of any kind, which leads to black markets. I propose a new category for assault weapons, similar but not as restrictive as full automatic ownership.

Health Care

1. Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- The only reason I want to repeal Obamacare is I want to replace it with Modified Medicare for All.

Immigration

1. Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
- Yes

2. Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- I believe there should be a path to citizenship. Illegal aliens are ripped off with low wages, driving down the wages of American jobs. Reagan, who "legalized" 3 millions Mexicans overnight, also stopped enforcing laws making it a felony to hire illegal immigrants. If we would enforce our laws there would be no need to build a wall. To make a point about walls, I lived in West Berlin while there was a wall. They really do work. But what about the 10-20 million here illegally now. That's the real question.

Marijuana

1. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- This is a big fat YES. The Drug War is the greatest con on America, resulting in the erosion of our 4th Amendment. I am for the legalization of all drugs, no matter what. No drug laws worked fine for America for 200 years. Drug treatment is the only option for those who become addicted. We have yet to arrest the opium growers and drug lords in Afghanistan linked to the government. Once Prohibition was lifted in America violent gangs disappeared, only to re-emerge with the Drug War.

National Security

1. Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
- No

2. Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- I believe ALL nuclear weapons should be dismantled. This is too great a power for any nation to have. I also speak Arabic. Aside from enjoying time in the Middle East and Arab culture, I lived and worked in Israel and the West Bank (now Occupied Territories or Palestine). We have caused nothing but misery for the Middle East with "regime change" and meddling. The insanity of this is with Syria. We support ISIS, an off-shoot of al-Qaeda, in order to overthrow Assad. Our support of Bin Laden against the Soviet Afghan government is why we are in this mess.

Administrative Priorities

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- Right off the bat I will introduce legislation, as explained above, to revoke patents on pharmaceuticals. Let the "free market" work as Republicans shout. Secondly, an investigation into the Humvee deaths as a result of corruption should establish the basis for not only ending the procurement system, but reducing our "defense" spending. I will introduce legislation to bring back the Marginal Tax Rate, as explained above, to reduce our national debt.
